What is your career ambition and what have
you done to prepare for it?
My career ambition is to become
a certified bilingual teacher. I have been working as an instructional
assistant for Oakland Unified School District since April of 1994. I will
also receive an AA degree in Liberal Studies in June, 1997.
What personal accomplishment are you most proud of having
achieved?
I am most proud of having achieved an AS degree
in Accounting at College of Alameda.
What person would you most like to meet? (Describe in detail
why)
The person I would like to meet the most is Wislawa
Szymborska, a 73-year-old Polish poet. She was awarded the 1996 Nobel
Prize for her accomplishment in poetry and literature. Her major published
works include:"Questions Put to Myself"(1945), "Nothing Twice", "The End
and Beginning" and "View With a Grain of Sand"(1995).
What do you believe is the biggest obstacle you have been faced
with in your life and how did it affect or change you?
The
biggest obstacle in my life would be that I had to leave my fatherland
due to the brutal control of the Vietnamese Communist Regime and I am
still homesick. However, leaving Vietnam gave me an opportunity to
envision a better world. I was able to continue my educational pursuit.
Finally, I graduated from Skyline High School in Oakland in 1994 and is
currently finishing my last semester at College of Alameda before
transferring to Cal State Hayward in Fall of 1997. I am proud of my
fluency in both English and Vietnamese.
If you were crowned MISS AO DAI, what will you do to help
Vietnamese Community or others?
If I was crowned MISS AO DAI,
I will be a volunteer in every event held by the Vietnamese not-for-profit
organizations. I will also represent our community to interact with other
communities in order to share our culture and to understand their
cultures. As a result, we can reduce racial tension and make the Bay Area,
in particular, a safer, better living environment
